Job Description:

Build the foundational backend systems for 'Citi Assist', a Generative AI assistant that will reach every Citi employee globally. Join on the ground floor to shape a high-visibility platform and help define standards for how a global bank adopts AI technology safely and at scale.

Job Responsibility:

Lead, code, and deliver backend services
Act as technical anchor for backend services
Own critical systems like services for background jobs and autonomous agents
Champion security and safety by design
Be a technical mentor and force multiplier for the team
Champion engineering craftsmanship
Shape technical direction and roadmap
Foster clear communication in a distributed team

Requirements:

Proven experience leading technical projects and mentoring other engineers
Deep, hands-on experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade Python services
A security-conscious mindset
A firm grasp of software design patterns and a belief in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code
Comfort with deploying and managing applications in containerised environments (Kubernetes experience)
Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and a belief in automating everything
Solid experience working with relational databases like Postgres

Nice to have:

Experience with other languages like TypeScript, Go, or Java
Direct experience with Generative AI concepts, LLMs, or related personal/professional projects
Experience with data pipelines and ETL tools such as Apache Airflow and Dagster
