Lead Project Engineer leads project teams in executing medium sized technical projects for customers in the food industry, such as grain milling including specialty grains like oat, animal feed, and oil extraction, and supports the Project Manager in more complex projects.
Job Responsibility:
Manage assigned projects from initiation to completion
Actively participate in project meetings and design reviews with cross-functional team members, suppliers, and/or customers
Responsible for technical design of medium plants, lines and single machines
Create efficient, organized, practical layouts for manufacturing plants and production lines
Address and resolve any questions or issues during design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning
Track schedules to ensure projects are executed completely and on time
Prioritize and manage work to support budgeted hours and scheduled due dates
Ensure proper specifications and timely placement of purchase orders
Support Team Members in technical responsibilities
Track deviations using the Buhler quality system
Prepare work packages for other engineering locations
Capture project experience and best practices, and apply lessons learned
Domestic travel required up to 10% of the time
Requirements:
Five (5) years of related food processing project engineering experience
Two (2) years of experience (may be concurrent) with: Managing assigned projects from initiation to completion
Actively participating in project meetings and design reviews
Creating efficient, organized, practical layouts for manufacturing plants and production lines
Addressing and resolving any questions or issues during design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning
Tracking schedules to ensure projects are executed completely and on time
Prioritizing and managing work hours to support budgeted hours and scheduled due dates
Ensuring proper specifications and timely placement of purchase orders
