Job Description:

We are looking for a Lead Designer to focus on modernizing system-wide experiences in the Editor Platform Design team. In this role, you will join an organization consisting of multiple teams across Australia and North America. This team sits within the Confluence group and delivers a platform experience consumed by almost all Atlassian products and used by over 20 million monthly active users. As a high-level individual contributor, design director, and team mentor, you'll lead and deliver strategic platform design work aimed at unifying experiences across Atlassian products and communicating the value of the Editor Platform both internally and externally. You will focus on understanding – at any given point – where are we now, where do we want to be, and how will we get there.

Job Responsibility:

  • Partner with design leadership and cross functional executives to build energy and coalitions at scale for strategic imperatives
  • Advocate the importance of Editor Platform design strategy across the business
  • Work with product managers, engineering and other partners to help define the wider Editor Platform strategy and deliver on key strategic projects
  • Inspire a high-performing team of designers across the Confluence group
  • Improve craft quality for all design specializations in your team
  • Bring the perspective and needs of Editor Platform design to larger design strategic projects
  • Champion and evolve team operations and design guidelines to scale the reach and impact of the design team
  • Contribute to programs outside of Editor Platform design which improve overall design capability

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of strategic product design experience, designing complex or enterprise-level software
  • Demonstrable experience designing for technically complex scenarios, ideally platform experiences at scale
  • Ability to create clarity in high ambiguity through impactful design solutions to challenging problems
  • Passion for story-telling, the ability to bring design direction to life with compelling narrative
  • Experience balancing customer needs with business goals, market viability, and technical feasibility
  • Facilitation and cross-functional collaboration skills: you can demonstrate the ability to integrate the work of multiple teams, solicit and synthesize feedback, and facilitate design discussions that lead company wide outcomes
  • Experience in helping large organization navigate change
  • Experience measuring success with qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Experience improving process and methodology to increase product value, team velocity and accelerate adoption of new capabilities
  • Passionate about mentoring and up-levelling the craft of designers around you
What we offer:
  • Health coverage
  • Paid volunteer days
  • Wellness resources
