The Lead Product Designer will play a crucial role in shaping e-commerce experiences by collaborating with cross-functional teams. This position requires a strong product mindset and a focus on iterative delivery, experimentation, and measurable improvements. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in product design, particularly in e-commerce, and will be responsible for leading design initiatives, mentoring other designers, and contributing to design systems.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the design of end-to-end e-commerce journeys across web and mobile
Shape product direction in partnership with Product Managers and business stakeholders
Translate commercial goals into intuitive, high-performing experiences
Use research, insight and analytics to inform design decisions
Prototype and test ideas quickly to validate assumptions
Contribute to and evolve design systems for scalability and consistency
Support and mentor other designers within the team
Facilitate workshops and alignment sessions with clients and internal teams
Own the quality and coherence of the customer experience across your product area
Collaborate with Product and Engineering to shape and prioritise the roadmap
Design and deliver features that drive measurable improvements in conversion, engagement and retention
Lead and contribute to A B testing and optimisation initiatives
Present work confidently, clearly explaining rationale and trade-offs
Ensure accessibility and inclusive design principles are embedded in all outputs
Balance user needs, business goals and technical constraints in decision making
Requirements:
8+ years experience in product design, with strong experience in e-commerce
Proven experience working within agile, cross-functional squads
Strong partnership with Product Owners and Product Managers on backlog shaping and prioritisation
A track record of delivering measurable product improvements
Excellent UX and interaction design fundamentals
Strong visual design skills and attention to detail
Confident prototyping skills using tools such as Figma
Experience using data and customer insight to inform decisions
Solid understanding of core e-commerce journeys including search, browse, product detail and checkout
Experience contributing to or leading design systems
Nice to have:
Experience working within consultancy or multi-client environments
Exposure to international or multi-market e-commerce platforms
Experience with service design or end-to-end customer journey mapping
Familiarity with experimentation frameworks and growth methodologies
Experience working within large enterprise or transformation programmes
Previous experience mentoring or leading other designers
