Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking Lead Pharmacy Technician to help drive excellence in technician practice, support service expansion, and contribute to high quality patient care across our organisation. This is a brand-new leadership opportunity within our pharmacy department which will play a pivotal role in guiding and developing our pharmacy technician team across Austin Health. This role is ideal for a technician who is passionate about leadership, workforce development, and advancing the scope and capability of the technician profession.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide day to day leadership, support, and supervision for the pharmacy technician and support staff workforce
  • Coordinate the provision of safe, efficient and innovative services
  • Ensure workforce capability, capacity and credentials
  • Support the development of strategic goals ensuring the delivery of safe, timely, evidence based care
  • Act as a key point of contact for workforce planning and operational coordination

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician and demonstrated experience in a leadership capacity
  • Managerial and leadership experience, including financial, human resource and workforce skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation, team building and conflict resolution skills
  • A commitment to patient safety and excellence
  • Capacity to perform under pressure, to meet time constraints and determine work priorities
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of all relevant aspects of hospital pharmacy services
  • A commitment to continuing education and the ability to keep abreast of current knowledge and accepted practices
