Job Description:

We are on the lookout for a dedicated professional to collaborate with our BHNFT digital team, ensuring the successful further implementation of the Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system across our Trust. As Barnsley Hospital embarks on full digital transformation, we are expanding our EPMA team to meet the growing demand for EPMA demand to ensure safe business as usual and implementation of ICCA EPMA.

Job Responsibility:

  • To complete the necessary pharmacy duties to maintain registration competencies.
  • To maintain own CPD as required by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • To attend appropriate training courses for technicians, to encourage other staff to undertake further training and to participate in such training schemes as necessary to keep relevant pharmaceutical clinical and technical knowledge up to date.
  • To act as a role model for student technicians, MTO 1 technicians and other members of technical and support staff.
  • To participate in Weekend, Bank Holiday and late-night duties.
  • To undertake any other related duties, which may be required.

Requirements:

  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent
  • Extended role checking technician (or fulfills the criteria to undertake training)
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communications skills.
  • Ability to engage others in the change process
  • Ability to facilitate problem solving and project delivery, and resolve conflict amicably.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks/time and to delegate.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Ability to motivate, influence and negotiate in order to deliver results.
  • Ability to develop project plans in detail and adjust to meet changing environments.
  • Ability to grasp impact of project, undertake analysis and take action on conflicting views.
  • In-patient/Out-patient dispensing experience
  • Significant experience post qualification to include previous hospital experience
  • Advanced computer keyboard/labelling skills requiring accurate data input working within narrow margins of error.
  • Knowledge of ward/department pharmacy logistics.
  • Knowledge of Trust/departmental policies and procedures.
  • Critical thinking reviewing or writing SOPs and policies.
  • Understanding of the need for confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH and Data Protection Act

Nice to have:

  • Educated to diploma level in an IT related subject or equivalent experience.
