Job Responsibility:
Team Supervision: Directly supervise and mentor a team of 10-15 Pharmacists Registered Pharmacy Technicians, ensuring a culture of accountability and respect
Workload Management: Monitor workflow distribution to ensure fairness across the team
you will be responsible for ensuring no single pharmacist is overburdened
Process Improvement: Identify workflow gaps and implement solutions to optimize high-volume specialty operations
Conflict Resolution: Handle personalities and operational pressure with a steady, professional temperament
Mentorship: Lead by example to support the professional development of your direct reports
Advanced Clinical Assessments: Perform CACP-style patient assessments, review lab results, and monitor for complex drug interactions
Expanded Scope: Actively utilize Alberta’s expanded scope of practice (APA) to renew prescriptions, adapt dosages, and perform initial prescribing where appropriate
Specialty Counseling: Provide high-touch, detailed counseling to patients regarding specialty medications
Documentation: Ensure all clinical documentation meets rigorous standards for insurance audits and regulatory compliance
Workflow Support: Verify and adjudicate prescriptions in Kroll alongside your team during peak times
Requirements:
APA Designation (Additional Prescribing Authority) is required
B.Sc. Pharmacy degree (or higher) and current registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP)
Previous experience leading a team of 5-10+ peers (prior experience as a Pharmacy Manager or Lead)
Must be capable of managing high pressure, tight deadlines, and complex team dynamics without getting rattled
Strong, up-to-date clinical knowledge with the ability to "self-correct" and solve problems independently
A history of tenure (staying at sites for several years) rather than short-term job hopping
Nice to have:
Background in specialty pharmacy, hospital, or complex clinical settings is preferred
