Job Description

At Shopify, we simplify enterprise commerce for businesses of all types. We empower high-growth, high-volume merchants with the scalability, reliability, and flexibility they need. Our commitment is to make every merchant love their commerce platform and tools, and our Partner Management team plays a crucial role in making this a reality. Partners build with Shopify because it gives them an unmatched opportunity to grow alongside the future of commerce. Our platform, products, merchant base, and ecosystem create a place where agency partners can build durable businesses — from focused lifestyle agencies to scaled, category-defining companies. Partner Management exists to make that opportunity real: helping partners find the right merchants, adopt the right products, grow their practices, and feel supported as builders in the Shopify ecosystem. We are looking for a visionary partner manager who can foster relationships and drive strategic outcomes for our emerging and high-potential partner ecosystem. You will be someone who strengthens the value of partnerships internally and can leverage those collaborations to transform the business of high potential and performing partners across all Shopify plans and merchant businesses. You will bring a macro perspective to our growth and development, and know how to increase the impact of Shopify's partner flywheel through proactive partner identification, outreach & strategic coaching, and 1:many educational campaigns.

Job Responsibility

  • Build scalable partner success programs that help partners identify their strongest merchant segments, sharpen their Shopify positioning, and grow repeatable revenue streams
  • Coach high-potential partners on differentiated strategies and actionable growth plans for their Shopify practices
  • Develop enablement resources, playbooks, office hours, campaigns, and workflows that make it easier for partners to build, launch, and scale merchant work on Shopify
  • Identify opportunities to recognize, reward, and amplify partners who deliver exceptional merchant outcomes
  • Design engagement motions that make it easy for partners to act on and see success building a practice with Shopify
  • Deploy scalable growth motions that help partners expand their portfolios through new merchant acquisition, new merchant services, and adoption of Shopify products by existing merchants
  • Strengthen a community of Shopify builders through IRL and virtual moments where partners learn from each other, share what is working, collaborate on merchant opportunities, and deepen their connection to Shopify's mission of entrepreneurship
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Enablement, and other cross-functional teams to achieve partner, merchant, and Shopify business objectives

Requirements

  • Prior experience in partner management or partner/growth marketing, preferably with a focus on commerce or retail tech platforms
  • Experience managing and engaging a large portfolio of partners or customers to drive commercial outcomes
  • Strong empathy for agency partner business models, including how they acquire clients, package services, price work, and scale delivery
  • Ability to translate product innovation into partner opportunity, especially across emerging areas like AI-enabled commerce, unified commerce, and new merchant growth services
  • Experience building scalable enablement, lifecycle, or community programs that help large audiences take action
  • Strong commercial judgment with the ability to balance Shopify outcomes, partner growth, and merchant success
  • Proven track record of helping partners grow revenue through consultative guidance, enablement, or commercial programs
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trust and provide partners and their clients with the best solutions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the agency partnership ecosystem and industry in which our partners operate, including an understanding of their business challenges and how Shopify can address them
  • Ability to multi-task across multiple partner requirements and workstreams
  • Desire to learn and master the value of new product iterations, and educate our growing partner base
  • Ability to advocate for partner needs internally while balancing commercial priorities, merchant outcomes, and Shopify's broader ecosystem strategy
  • Passion for engaging with people, understanding their unique business needs, and demonstrating how Shopify can help them achieve meaningful growth

Nice to have

  • Prior experience working with Shopify agencies or freelancers
  • Prior experience as a merchant or brand in ecommerce or retail industries
  • Experience in commerce ecosystems with core ecommerce platforms
  • A background in SaaS environments and understanding of the US market
  • In-depth knowledge of the competitive landscape in retail tech and commerce

What we offer

  • Opportunity to shape the future of partner-led growth at Shopify
  • Dynamic, collaborative work environment focused on innovation and growth
  • Competitive compensation
