Job Description:

A leadership opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, and motivated experienced Research Nurse with a passion for operational delivery of clinical research to join our growing Research and Development team at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The research delivery team deliver high quality research across a diverse portfolio of clinical trials. The successful candidate will work closely with the research Matron to lead the growth of the portfolio of studies and further development of the team, working together with the clinical teams to embed research, increasing opportunities for our patients. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a positive research culture, raise the profile of research within the Trust, and support the team to meet ambitious recruitment and delivery targets.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and manage the research delivery team
  • Ensure effective operational delivery of a broad and varied portfolio of clinical trials in full compliance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice, and all relevant legislation
  • Coordinate the allocation of studies and workforce planning to maintain the right skill mix
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and supervision to the research delivery team
  • Act as a specialist resource and visible role model for high quality research practice
  • Offer expert advice to staff, patients, and external partners
  • Play a key role in promoting research activity across the Trust
  • Ensure robust governance systems are in place
  • Champion quality assurance and patient safety
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting throughout all stages of research delivery
  • Deputise for the Matron when required
  • Represent the Trust at internal and external meetings
  • Actively support the development and implementation of departmental strategies, policies, and service improvements

Requirements:

  • 1st level Registered Adult Nurse
  • Hold current NMC registration
  • Significant experience working in clinical research at Band 6 or above
  • Possess a degree qualification or equivalent research experience
  • GCP Accreditation
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Extensive Research Experience
  • Extensive experience of leading clinical trials including commercial clinical trials
  • In-depth Knowledge of the Research process
  • Extensive experience of Project Management and Co-ordination
  • Experience of managing multiple projects
  • Experience of working in a clinical research environment
  • Experience of line management and team leadership
  • Competent working with IT. Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Demonstrates a collaborative working style
  • Experience of teaching and facilitating both small and large groups
