The Network Engineer supports enterprise-level network operations and modernization activities across federal environments. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, resilient, and high-performance network infrastructure. The engineer works closely with operations, cybersecurity, cloud, and systems engineering teams to ensure reliable connectivity, enforce network security standards, and support mission-critical IT services. The Network Engineer will help operate and maintain a US government agency's enterprise IT infrastructure and enhance key systems to support operating programs and increase efficiencies. The project scope includes operations support, systems engineering and lifecycle management, network operating services, end user support and technical assistance, engineering support, and design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems and services to ensure the availability, performance, security, and reliability of IT infrastructure and applications.
Job Responsibility:
Designing, configuring, and maintaining LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network appliances
Supporting network upgrades, modernization efforts, and cloud-connected architectures aligned with enterprise requirements
Monitoring network performance, diagnosing issues, and implementing corrective actions to maintain system availability
Collaborating with cybersecurity teams to apply network security standards, manage firewall policies, and support compliance reviews
Creating and maintaining network diagrams, configuration documentation, and operational procedures
Supporting cross-functional teams by providing tier-III troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and technical guidance
Implementing best practices for routing, switching, load balancing, network segmentation, and secure connectivity in federal environments
Requirements:
Minimum 8 years experience supporting enterprise network operations, including routing, switching, and firewall administration
Minimum 1 year of experience supporting federal or regulated environments with mission-critical systems
Bachelor's degree in information systems, engineering, computer science, related discipline or equivalent experience
Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance
Must hold at least one of the following certifications: CISSP, CCNP, CCNA, Professional Cloud Solutions Architect Certification, Certification in Multi-Cloud (AWS, GCP, OCI, Azure)
Nice to have:
Experience implementing cloud network architectures for AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI
Familiarity with SD-WAN, Zero Trust architectures, automation tools, and network monitoring platforms
