We are seeking an exceptional multi-skilled Engineer to join our Life Sciences Real Estate Management Services team, supporting a critical new transition account across in the UK. This role represents a unique opportunity to shape operational excellence from the ground up, working with cutting-edge life sciences facilities while ensuring seamless service delivery during the crucial client onboarding phase. As our Lead Engineer, you will be the technical backbone of mission-critical pharmaceutical and biotechnology facilities, ensuring optimal performance of complex building systems while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance. This position combines technical engineering expertise with strategic facility management, requiring both hands-on problem-solving and collaboration across diverse European markets.
Job Responsibility:
HVAC Systems Management: Maintain and optimize sophisticated air handling systems, including cleanroom HVAC, temperature/humidity controls, and differential pressure monitoring critical to pharmaceutical operations
Electrical Systems: Oversee power distribution, emergency backup systems, UPS management, and specialized lighting systems for laboratory environments
Mechanical Systems: Manage compressed air systems, pure water/WFI systems, steam systems, and specialized manufacturing equipment support
Preventive Maintenance: Develop and execute comprehensive maintenance schedules ensuring 99.9%+ uptime for critical systems
Emergency Response: Provide 24/7 technical support and rapid response capabilities for system failures or anomalies
GMP Compliance: Ensure all facility operations meet Good Manufacturing Practice standards and support regulatory inspections
Cleanroom Management: Maintain ISO 14644 classified environments, including particle monitoring, airflow verification, and contamination control
Validation Support: Assist with Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) protocols
Documentation Management: Maintain detailed logs, calibration records, and change control documentation per FDA/EMA requirements
Risk Assessment: Conduct facility risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for operational continuity
System Handovers: Lead technical due diligence and system documentation for newly acquired facilities
Standard Operating Procedures: Develop and implement SOPs tailored to each facility's unique requirements
Vendor Management: Establish relationships with local suppliers and service providers across all four countries
Technology Integration: Implement JLL's proprietary facility management systems and IoT monitoring solutions
Performance Metrics: Establish baseline KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives
Cultural Adaptability: Navigate diverse regulatory environments and business practices across EMEA
Local Compliance: Ensure adherence to country-specific health, safety, and environmental regulations
Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with local teams, client representatives, and regulatory bodies
Knowledge Transfer: Mentor local technicians and ensure consistent service delivery standards
Requirements:
Completed technical education/training in relevant discipline
Extensive experience in industrial Facility Management, preferably in manufacturing or life science environments
Comprehensive knowledge of general building maintenance and repair techniques
Proven track record in both practical and organizational aspects of facility maintenance
Project experience in maintenance and infrastructure initiatives preferred
Independent, reliable work approach with ability to handle varied responsibilities
Strong problem-solving abilities and quick learning capacity
Proactive, hands-on mentality with strong organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
Interest in professional development and mentoring others
