Serves as resource person for the section. Assists laboratory management in accomplishing goals and objectives of the laboratory and the health system. Actively supports and participates in the laboratory and health system QI initiatives. Ensures a quality product through established QI and QC programs, including competency and proficiency testing programs. Supports the laboratory manager with continued feedback and input.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory sciences or one of the chemical or biological sciences related fields that meets ASCP requirements
MT (Medical Technologist) or MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) through the ASCP
ASCP technologist specialist certification in specialty field would be accepted in lieu of MT certification
Technical and clinical expertise in section
Knowledge of clinical laboratory services usually acquired through 2 years of prior experience
Proficient in performing laboratory procedures
Understands department policies and procedures
Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with patients, patient families, physicians, and hospital and laboratory staff
