Job Description:

We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Lead Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of maintenance delivery across a key client site. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for ensuring all mechanical and electrical systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and in full compliance — while supporting and developing a small on-site engineering team. If you’re technically strong, confident leading others, and thrive in a structured but fast-paced environment, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior engineering position.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across M&E systems
  • Lead and oversee maintenance of all building services plant and equipment
  • Supervise subcontractors and review works to ensure compliance with RAMS and standards
  • Complete and manage simPRO tasks, ensuring photographic evidence and accurate records
  • Maintain statutory compliance records, logbooks and technical documentation
  • Support and ensure completion of statutory planned maintenance programmes
  • Monitor and maintain optimal environmental conditions via HVAC systems
  • Respond to BMS alarms and first-line diagnostics
  • Carry out fault finding and reactive repairs across mechanical and electrical systems
  • Identify and escalate health & safety risks and plant reliability issues
  • Oversee plant operations including start-up, shutdown, changeover and optimisation
  • Conduct regular site walk-rounds to ensure safety, cleanliness and operational performance
  • Act as the key technical point of contact for the client and internal teams
  • Support small installation and repair works where required
  • Ensure all works are completed safely and within compliance standards
  • Maintain strong communication with management, reporting progress and issues
  • Support and mentor junior engineers on site
  • Participate in an on-call rota (1 in 8, post probation)

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Level 2/3 or equivalent)
  • Strong experience within Building Services / M&E maintenance
  • Proven experience as a Lead Engineer or senior technical role
  • Strong understanding of building compliance and statutory maintenance
  • 18th Edition (if electrically biased)
  • IPAF / PASMA (essential)
  • Strong fault-finding experience across: Boilers, HVAC systems, Pumps, Generators, Switchgear, Lighting & small power, Water systems and associated plant
  • Knowledge of BMS systems and controls
