We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Lead Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of maintenance delivery across a key client site. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for ensuring all mechanical and electrical systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and in full compliance — while supporting and developing a small on-site engineering team. Job Responsibility:
Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across M&E systems
Lead and oversee maintenance of all building services plant and equipment
Supervise subcontractors and review works to ensure compliance with RAMS and standards
Complete and manage simPRO tasks, ensuring photographic evidence and accurate records
Maintain statutory compliance records, logbooks and technical documentation
Support and ensure completion of statutory planned maintenance programmes
Monitor and maintain optimal environmental conditions via HVAC systems
Respond to BMS alarms and first-line diagnostics
Carry out fault finding and reactive repairs across mechanical and electrical systems
Identify and escalate health & safety risks and plant reliability issues
Oversee plant operations including start-up, shutdown, changeover and optimisation
Conduct regular site walk-rounds to ensure safety, cleanliness and operational performance
Act as the key technical point of contact for the client and internal teams
Support small installation and repair works where required
Ensure all works are completed safely and within compliance standards
Maintain strong communication with management, reporting progress and issues
Support and mentor junior engineers on site
Participate in an on-call rota (1 in 8, post probation)
Requirements:
Fully qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Level 2/3 or equivalent)
Strong experience within Building Services / M&E maintenance
Proven experience as a Lead Engineer or senior technical role
Strong understanding of building compliance and statutory maintenance
18th Edition (if electrically biased)
IPAF / PASMA (essential)
Strong fault-finding experience across: Boilers, HVAC systems, Pumps, Generators, Switchgear, Lighting & small power, Water systems and associated plant
Knowledge of BMS systems and controls
