The Lead Logistics Coordinator oversees the efficient flow of materials into, within, and out of the organization while supporting daily logistics operations and resolving complex transportation and shipping issues. The position provides leadership through training, mentoring, and serving as a subject matter expert, while coordinating freight, promoting Lean and Six Sigma initiatives, and ensuring safe material handling practices. It requires strong logistics experience, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with a customer-focused mindset.
Job Responsibility:
Actively oversee and participate in the efficient and organized flow of materials into, around and out of the company
Perform all job functions of a Logistics Coordinator
Helps Logistics Coordinators and other JR team members resolve Logistics related problems
Assists in developing training material for Logistics Coordinators and Lead Logistics Coordinators
Trains Logistics Coordinators and other Lead Logistics Coordinators on job responsibilities
Participates on and promotes Lean & Six Sigma initiatives related to Shipping and Receiving
Coordinates truck load freight arrangements by developing freight requirements, requesting quotes from preferred carriers, analyzing carrier quotes, working with Purchasing to place purchase orders for freight and scheduling loads with carriers
Assist in mentoring the logistics team members, as well as exemplify model behavior and positive attitude
Serves as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more of the following areas: International Shipping, Truckload Freight Arrangements, Information Systems (Ops Manager, Job Track, Baan), Material Handling Equipment Usage and Safety
Must be able to operate overhead crane and hi-lo equipment as well as potentially lift up to 50 lbs on a daily basis
Any other tasks and work that Supervisor may assign from time to time
Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent
college preferred
3-5 years in a business environment
2 or more years of logistics, materials management, or supply chain experience preferred
Proficient in MS Office, strong organizational and time management skills
Work independently with minimal supervision
Exceptional work ethic and motivation to serve the customer, both internal and external
