The Lead, Joiner Outfit is responsible for the leadership and development of the Joiner Outfit team inside the engineering Outfit department to support the ongoing projects under the matrix organization structure for new vessels constructed by Seaspan Shipyards.
Job Responsibility:
Develop, staff, and line manage a team within their department and allocate the required resources to the ongoing projects under the matrix organization structure
Develop Statements of Work (SOW), Master Product Lists (MPL) and hours estimates for task proposals
Develop and maintain a discipline resourcing plan and lead on any required recruitment activities
Support the Manager/Senior Manager with Control Account Manager (CAM) duties for a discipline within their department and any subcontracted scopes, responsible for cost and schedule adherence across all programs
Develop and implement governance processes that comply with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) requirements
Advance training and development plans and paths for engineers within the discipline as well as actively address performance issues within the teams
Develop, implement, and improve engineering design standards that best support efficient design and build practices
Drive teams to develop required functional engineering plans and processes which support the execution of project work across a value stream
Provide technical and execution support to the Project Engineering Manager or Project Chief Engineer as required
Provide engineering and design expertise in assigned areas of Marine Outfitting Systems including such elements and components as
joiner interior accommodation design, fire protection systems, insulation systems, structural openings (doors, windows, manholes, hatches), stairs & ladders, handrails and stanchions, paint, gratings, and lifesaving equipment, davits etc.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering or Naval Architecture discipline
Professional Engineer or Incorporated Engineer designation with a recognized, accredited institution
5+ years of design management and leadership experience in a shipyard or marine design firm
10+ years of design experience in the shipbuilding industry
Experience of supplier technical management
Experience of Earned Value Management
Management skills and ability to lead a large and diverse technical team
In-depth understanding of the shipbuilding design process
Technical, analytical and change management skills
Negotiating and communication skills

Initiative, creativity, and integrity
Proficient computer skills including Word/Excel/PowerPoint
