As a Civil Engineer - Inspection (IRI), you will play a key role within an expert team dedicated to bridges, dams, maritime infrastructures, and roads. Your mission will be split primarily between inspection/report writing (80%) and surveillance/design (20%). You will work on major projects for key clients such as the Ministry of Transportation of Quebec (MTQ) and the Société des traversiers, utilizing state-of-the-art technology.
Job Responsibility:
Manage inspection projects by planning and coordinating interventions with all stakeholders involved
Perform general and detailed inspections and conduct damage surveys on bridges and structural works (visual inspection, working at heights, etc.)
Perform structural modeling to evaluate load-bearing capacity
Write inspection reports, evaluations, technical expertise documents, and specialized studies with high rigor
Present results, technical analyses, and recommendations to clients
Contribute to continuous process improvement by developing procedures, IT tools, and internal training documents
Prepare calls for tenders, including strategic planning and cost estimation
Actively participate in project kickoff and follow-up meetings
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering (Master's is an asset)
Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
Minimum of 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in the inspection or evaluation of bridges and structural works
Hold the "Ingénieur Responsable de l'Inspection" (IRI) qualification or possess the prerequisites (60,000 m² inspected) to obtain it quickly
Valid driver's license (travel required for inspections)
ASP Construction card (Health and Safety on construction sites)
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel) and Microsoft Project
Excellent understanding of structural behavior and material degradation phenomena
Superior writing skills and impeccable mastery of French (oral and written) are mandatory
Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces (inspection via climbing or aerial lift)
Natural leadership, scientific rigor, and professionalism in client relations
In-depth knowledge of MTQ standards and procedures
Nice to have:
Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering
Functional knowledge of technical English
