Job Description:

We are looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join the Sopra Steria Poland team responsible for responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a cloud platform based on AWS. The role focuses on defining standards, creating architecture, automation, and supporting development teams (Software Factory) in designing and deploying scalable, secure, and reliable cloud environments. Within the Gdańsk-based team, you will act as a key expert developing globally significant solutions for our client’s products in the aviation industry.

Job Responsibility:

  • Designing, implementing, and developing scalable cloud infrastructure in AWS
  • Creating architecture and technical recommendations for new components and products
  • Participating in defining non-functional requirements (NFRs) and hosting standards
  • Collaborating with Solution Architects and development teams responsible for the Software Factory
  • Taking over new components and services into the Enterprise Hosting environment
  • Automating infrastructure using IaC (CloudFormation, Terraform), CM tools (Ansible), and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins)
  • Optimizing cloud costs and monitoring resource usage
  • Maintaining high platform availability — incident analysis, RCA, and implementing permanent improvements
  • Driving innovation initiatives, evaluating new AWS services, and developing the internal Tech Radar
  • Creating and updating technical documentation

Requirements:

  • Advanced experience in designing and building cloud solutions (preferably AWS)
  • Advanced knowledge in automation tools — Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins or similar
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking (routing, VPC, VPN, DNS, etc.)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills — ability to analyze complex cloud‑related issues
  • Knowledge of shell scripting, databases, and Python
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Associate, AWS Professional) are a strong plus
  • Independence, proactiveness, and a high level of initiative
  • Excellent communication and teamwork — ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams (Engineering, Delivery, Ops)
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to propose long‑term improvements
  • Willing to visit our office located in Katowice
  • Fluent English: at least B2
