We are currently looking for an energetic, hard-working Lead Hand to work a part-time permanent position on our Weekend night shift (Friday to Sunday 23:00-11:00, Saturday to Sunday 23:00-11:00 & Sunday 19:00-23:00) at our Alliston facility. The Viaflex Lead hand is responsible for coordinating the Viaflex Filling department, optimizing output while maintaining all quality and safety standards. The Lead Hand will monitor the activities of team members and machinery to ensure production of quality product in a safe and efficient manner. This position involves considerable hands-on equipment troubleshooting, repair, set-up, changeover and line operation. In addition the Viaflex Lead Hand will perform Filling Operator/MH duties on a regular basis. Due to the nature of our business, Baxter follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) which requires our employees to focus on cleanliness and contamination control. Other aspects of GMP that must be observed are no makeup or jewelry in the production areas.
Job Responsibility
Coordinate the operation of the Viaflex Filling department
Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments and repairs as required
Responsible for escalating safety, quality, and production issues as appropriate
Ensuring all SOP’s, GMP’s and Safety rules are followed
Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of EBR tasks for FOB/EOB and that tasks are approved
Prepare for batch and line set up
Oversee cleaning and sanitization
Train operators and provide feedback to Supervisor
Help in the execution of scrap/cost reduction projects
Perform Filling, MH, QA/RK duties on an as needed basis
Support EMS implementation which includes maintaining the department in 6S condition and participating in the IDEAS program
Requirements
Successful completion of High School diploma or GED required (Proof will be requested)
Experience within a manufacturing operation
Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment trouble-shooting ability
Practical experience using Lean tools (6S, LSW, VM, DA, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping)
3 – 5 years of manufacturing experience
People coaching and team development skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work with all levels of the organization
Strong ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced, high pressure environment
Strong analytical and problem solving skills and critical thinking abilities
Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Infinity, EBR and AS400\Kronos
Good working knowledge of SOP’s/specs, blueprints, PCS’s and BOM’s
Proficiency in trouble shooting automated equipment
