Lead Gameplay Animator Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Lead Gameplay Animator to support the development of an exciting new IP. Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly-skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining! As a member of the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.
Job Responsibility:
Leading and supporting a team of animators, providing clear direction, feedback, and mentorship
Applying strong animation principles, gameplay fundamentals, and motion capture techniques to craft high-quality animations and systems
Demonstrating an understanding of game design mechanics, 3Cs (character, camera, controls), AI behaviour, narrative design, camera animation, and facial animation
Partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve shared creative goals
Providing and incorporate feedback to deliver polished, high-quality gameplay experiences
Troubleshooting tool implementations and recommend workflow improvements to enhance team effectiveness and creativity
Requirements:
Credited experience on at least one shipped AAA game title
Expertise in game engines and building animation systems
Experience with motion capture workflows, including editing and cleanup
Strong animation fundamentals in human and creature movement (timing, weight, balance)
Experience leading or mentoring team members
Ability to adapt to new tools and technologies
Proficiency in Maya
Strong problem-solving skills across technical and cross-functional contexts
Ability to mentor and support animators’ professional growth
Ability to think critically and conceptually about character movement and performance
Nice to have:
Understanding of character creation processes (modeling, texturing, rigging)
Experience leading animation efforts on a content-focused AAA team
Industry recognition for animation work
Experience in adjacent disciplines such as quest design, environment art, or programming
