Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in our Commercial Banking Entitlements as part of Digital Technology and Innovations. In this role you will serve as the hands-on technical lead and team expert, independently driving the design and delivery of a multi‑year modernization of a commercial banking entitlements platform using Java services, API development, ReactJS, and micro‑frontend architecture. You will lead framework design and implementation within an already-selected tech stack, guiding the team through the migration from legacy systems to modern technologies and ensuring scalable, production‑grade solutions. You will also position the platform for future AI adoption—leveraging tools and patterns that enable later AI-driven enhancements as the roadmap evolves.
Job Responsibility:
Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
Requirements:
5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
5+ years of hands‑on Java development experience building REST‑based microservices and APIs
5+ years of experience using the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, etc.)
5+ years of experience working with RDBMS platforms, including SQL and JDBC for data access and optimization
3+ years of experience with Micro‑Front End (MFE) architecture and frontend development using ReactJS, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
3+ years of experience building CI/CD pipelines and deploying applications to cloud environments
3+ years of experience with application performance analysis, observability/monitoring tools, and resolution of complex performance issues
Nice to have:
Experience with Generative AI, including using GenAI tools to develop/manage code workflows, designing and implementing GenAI workflows, and building solutions using agentic AI frameworks
Experience architecting, designing, and managing applications end‑to‑end
Experience with container orchestration platforms such as OpenShift
Strong software engineering background with experience building and operating production‑grade systems (e.g., distributed services, APIs, CI/CD integrations)
Demonstrated experience applying Generative AI and/or agentic AI to real‑world workflows, including LLM‑based automation, AI agents, or copilots embedded in developer tools or platforms
Ability to translate engineering and delivery pain points into AI‑driven solutions with measurable impact (e.g., flow efficiency, quality, cycle time, or developer productivity)
Strong collaboration skills with product, platform, and architecture partners, and the ability to influence SDLC evolution through working software rather than process alone
