We are seeking a highly skilled and professional Lead Engineer to take technical ownership of a flagship commercial tenant contract in Central London. This is a unique hybrid position designed for an experienced engineer looking to transition into leadership. The role offers an exact 50/50 split between hands-on engineering ('on the tools') and technical administration. You will act as the key link between our client's on-site facilities team and our back-office operations, maintaining a high-spec corporate workspace for a premium blue-chip tenant.
Job Responsibility
Personally execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on low-voltage distribution, emergency lighting, small power, and automated lighting control systems (e.g., DALI/Lutron)
Carry out first-line fault-finding and maintenance on mechanical plant including fan coil units (FCUs), air handling units (AHUs), and localized plumbing systems
Act as the primary on-site technical responder to major electrical faults or power failures, delivering first-time-fix solutions to protect tenant operations
Supervise on-site activities of specialist subcontractors, ensuring works align with safe systems of work and technical standards
Take full ownership of the site technical compliance folders, keeping water hygiene (L8), emergency lighting, and electrical test logbooks in an immaculate, audit-ready state
Manage the allocation, tracking, and timely closure of all PPM and reactive work tickets via the CAFM tablet system
Serve as the professional, day-to-day technical representative on-site, attending progress meetings and updating tenant facilities managers on ongoing works
Author, review, and approve high-risk Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and manage the site's Permit to Work system
Identify building improvements and lifecycle risks, compiling accurate technical specifications and labor/materials quotes to support small project works
Requirements
Minimum NVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
Proven background working in high-end commercial office or corporate tenant environments in Central London
Practical understanding of building services legislation, statutory maintenance standards (SFG20), and ACoP L8 water hygiene
Highly proficient in the use of modern CAFM systems (e.g., Concept, Maximo) and Microsoft Office
Comfortable shifting seamlessly from hands-on diagnostic work to administrative tasks, client reporting, and quotation drafting
Exceptional verbal and written English skills, with the ability to explain complex engineering challenges to non-technical corporate clients
