Job Description

Aramark is hiring a Lead Engineer to oversee facilities engineering and maintenance operations at the Galen Center, a premier athletics and events venue on the USC campus. This role is responsible for hands-on technical work across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as day-to-day supervision and leadership of engineering and maintenance staff. This position is ideal for a seasoned facilities professional with strong HVAC plant experience, proven leadership capability, and the ability to operate in a high-demand, event-driven environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and perform building maintenance and engineering operations, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Supervise and support engineering and maintenance staff, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to standard
  • Monitor, operate, and adjust complex building systems including: HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Heat exchangers and radiant floor heating systems
  • Hot water systems
  • Chillers, cooling towers, VFDs, and circulation pumps
  • Electrical systems support including: Emergency alarms and generators
  • Fire pumps
  • 480V three-phase and 120V electrical distribution
  • Lighting and low-voltage systems
  • Perform scheduled and in-depth preventive maintenance on: DDC control systems
  • Air-handling units and evaporative systems
  • Rooftop units, split systems, and window units
  • Ice machines and related equipment
  • Clean, inspect, and maintain ductwork, grills, shaftways, and exhaust systems
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and accountability for tools and equipment
  • Coordinate work with vendors, contractors, and campus partners as needed
  • Support event operations and respond to emergency maintenance situations

Requirements

  • Universal EPA / HVAC Freon Certification – Required
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial HVAC and facilities engineering experience
  • Prior experience supervising or leading maintenance staff
  • Strong technical background in: Chillers and hot water boilers
  • Cooling towers and heat exchangers
  • VFD-driven systems and plant operations
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in a 24/7 operating environment
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical documentation and safety procedures
  • Working computer knowledge for work order systems and reporting
