As an Engineer at Eversource, you'll collaborate with industry leaders and play a key role in driving the transition from a fossil fuel-powered grid to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. You'll work on cutting-edge projects involving large-scale solar photovoltaics, offshore wind, and electric energy storage. Job Responsibility
Supervises, coaches, and develops engineers
approves time and conducts performance reviews
Assigns, prioritizes and directs work performed by at least 2 FTE Engineers or 1 FTE Engineer and 1 FTE Designer
Responsible for the cost and performance of certain assets on the system which may include reliability analysis and trending of system events and monitoring of equipment condition
Responsible for the development, justification and approval of the Life Cycle Plan activities and projects over a multi-year horizon and for ongoing projects
Ensures that the design and specification of additions, modifications and replacements to the transmission and distribution systems, and the preparation of system electrical permits and related customer notifications, are completed accurately and on time
Responsible for the development of preliminary and final engineering plans, cost estimates, and details, as necessary
Responsible for development and high level tracking of major projects and budgets
Collaborate with other Engineers within Engineering to ensure consistency and teamwork
Provides technical support to the engineering design team, with oversight as needed
Provides technical support and direction to operating areas relative to system priorities, engineering guidelines and operating decisions during normal and emergency situations
Accountable for root-cause analysis, development and implementation of corrective actions
Responsible for the evaluation and selection of technology and equipment for the system
Responsible for the development of standards and procedures for design, operation and maintenance
Assumes the role of the Manager as required
Provides back up support to other engineering supervisors as required
Expected to assist with storm duty and any other major events
Requirements
Knowledge of utility power systems is strongly preferred
Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects through collaborations with other departments
Familiarity with power related load flow and application software is preferred
Ability to effectively deal with people at all levels, both internal and external to the company
Effective communication skills with strengths in employee relations focusing on a teamwork environment
Has demonstrated through experience, very high standards of professional and technical competence, and to have a complete and thorough knowledge of technical skills
Thorough knowledge of distribution standards, policies, regulations, engineering specifications, applicable codes, union contracts, Information and Requirements book, procedures and practices
Provides supervision within the provisions of the agreement between the Company and the local bargaining unit(s)
Applies knowledge and skill to solve problems and respond promptly, appropriately and constructively to employees
Must have or develop a thorough knowledge of Company organization, distribution standards, policies, practices and procedures
Proficient in office computer software such as MS Word, Excel, Power Point
Must have or develop a thorough knowledge of company software such as Maximo, Outage Management System (OMS), Workday, Workforce, Power Plan, Power Bi, etc.
Working knowledge of data analytics and AI related tools is preferred
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code and interconnection elements of National Electrical Code
Comprehensive knowledge of department programs, policies, procedures and business plans
Sound judgment, technical insight, and strong initiative to direct others on resolution of complex issues
Strong verbal and written communication and influencing skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry
Supervisory experience preferred
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
