Lead Electrical Engineer - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Sector: Energy - Oil & Gas. Function: Engineering & Design. Employment type: Contract.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage all instrumentation engineering activities for offshore projects across FEED, Detailed Engineering, and EPC/EPCI phases
Serve as the discipline lead and main technical interface for instrumentation with clients, project management, vendors, and other engineering disciplines
Supervise and guide a team of instrumentation engineers and designers, including task planning, technical checks, and deliverable approvals
Develop, review, and approve key instrumentation deliverables, including but not limited to: Instrument Index and I/O Lists, Instrument Data Sheets and Specifications, Control Narratives and Cause & Effect Diagrams, P&ID reviews and validation, Hook-up drawings, loop diagrams, and instrument layouts, Telecom and control system interfaces (DCS, ESD, F&G, PLC)
Ensure compliance with project specifications, client standards, and international codes (IEC, ISA, API, NORSOK)
Coordinate with procurement and vendors for technical bid evaluations, document reviews, FAT/SAT, and vendor clarification meetings
Support site activities when required, including commissioning, pre?commissioning, and offshore support
Identify technical risks, ensure quality assurance, and provide mitigation solutions throughout the project lifecycle
Assist with engineering planning, progress monitoring, manpower estimation, and reporting.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
Minimum 10-12 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the offshore oil & gas / marine / offshore construction environment
Strong hands?on experience with offshore facilities such as platforms, FPSOs, subsea tie?backs, or offshore vessels
Solid knowledge of instrumentation systems, control systems (DCS/ESD/F&G), and field instruments used in offshore applications
Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams and interfacing with electrical, process, and mechanical disciplines.
