Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Driller to join the UK’s leading ground engineering and geotechnical contractor.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure GI works are undertaken in accordance with the specification and to a good standard
  • Act as Lead Driller and supervise the Assistant Driller/s
  • Ensure accurate records and paperwork are submitted on time
  • Conduct oneself in a way that reflects and promotes Van Elle company values
  • Understand and act in accordance with Van Elle’s policies and procedures
  • Any other tasks that you may reasonably be required to undertake

Requirements:

  • Experienced Rotary and or Cable Percussion Lead Driller
  • NVQ Level 2 in Land Drilling
  • Be willing to travel and work away from home
  • Be flexible and work nights and weekend shifts as and when required
  • Have good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Be able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Have an ability to prioritise and organise work effectively
  • Work consistently whilst under pressure to maintain a professional approach at all times
  • Show initiative to make decisions within own area of authority
  • Develop relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Eligible to work and live in the UK
  • Flexibility to travel in the UK
  • A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK (desirable)

  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders - Back Deck Supervisors, Operations Managers, and Operations Coordinators to ensure project objectives are met
  • Keep excellent housekeeping standards on the drill floor and promptly report incidents, near‑misses, or unsafe conditions
  • Complete mandatory online and practical training, staying up‑to‑date with Fugro’s safety flashes and procedural updates
