Job Responsibility:

  • Leads a team of 3-4 in the design, development, planning, and execution of a Front Store product-centric promotional strategy
  • Aligns with Executive Director, Category Promo & Coupon Planning and Execution to collaborate with marketing, merchandising, supply chain, store operations, and price & value peers to plan and execute differentiated business unit, seasonal, and/or bi-weekly promotional events
  • Maintains a close partnership with Price & Value leadership team to continually innovate the holistic price, promotion, and coupon strategy
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive short and long-term product-centric promotion and coupon strategy
  • Routinely engages with peers and senior leaders across stakeholder groups in thought partnership on promotion and coupons strategy assessment
  • Closely monitors macro and micro trends in the retail environment to evaluate competitive landscape
  • Navigates ambiguity and change to achieve goals despite potential obstacles
  • Leads and participates in meetings/calls with corporate partners and retail leaders to support overall agenda and front store strategy
  • Champions innovation by bringing ideas to own ED & VP as well as the broader PCW Team in an agile way
  • Partners with the Price and Value leadership team to continually innovate the holistic price, promotion, and coupon strategy
  • Develops strong, and trusted, relationships with key stakeholders in Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Store Operations and DDAT
  • Leverages key data insights on promotional trends to influence both with and without authority to achieve buy-in from key cross-functional partners
  • Successfully recommends categories, brands and deals that will be most compelling for consumers based on historical product performance and market trends
  • Leverages a results-oriented mindset to assign appropriate timelines and accountabilities for initiatives, projects and deliverables
  • Optimizes and level sets expectations with stakeholders by partnering closely with Merchandising Leadership, Marketing Leadership, Supply Chain Leadership, Field Leadership, and Store Operations
  • Work cross-functionally with CSC partners to develop strategies and action plans to mitigate identified risks and opportunities tailored to the specific needs of each business unit
  • Optimizes use of data to support field execution of key programs and processes
  • Participates in the active management of Price & Value team resources to ensure OpEx, CapEx and IT Labor Hrs. spend is within fiscal year budget
  • Continuously looks for opportunities to drive efficiency and productivity across the team
  • Coaches and empowers team to identify new pathways to create simplicity for store teams and field leaders to execute key sales driving activities
  • Fully embraces organizational improvement initiatives, acting as a change agent with one’s own team and peers
  • Provides both constructive and positive feedback on new initiatives to appropriate teams
  • Develops the capabilities of direct reports to take on progressively higher levels of responsibility
  • Develops robust, diverse talent pools and succession plans
  • Promotes a high-performance culture by clearly setting goals and expectations
  • Develops external and internal networks that support a pipeline of talent into the price & value and/or broader merchandising team
  • Acts as a coach and mentor for team to develop and support IDPs for high potential talent
  • Leverages existing enterprise tools, such as talent profiles and enterprise development programs, to develop talent

Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ experience of developing, implementing and executing retail merchandising and/or marketing programs
  • 10+ years of demonstrated successful leadership experience in a highly competitive multi-unit environment
  • 10+ years’ proven track record of influencing others with and without authority
  • 10+ years’ experience building high-performing, successful teams developing key talent
  • 10+ years’ experience actively taking on issues in a decisive manner
  • 10+ years’ experience leading under pressure, adapting to changing dynamics in real time
  • 10+ years’ experience understanding and breaking down highly complex situations
  • 10+ years’ experience effectively demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 10+ years’ experience collaborating effectively across different business functions
  • 10+ years’ experience demonstrated ability to lead a large organization and manage a multi-million-dollar business unit
  • Expertise leveraging MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities
  • Ability to think about the impact of decisions on the broader enterprise
  • Consistently demonstrates strong executive presence
  • Consistent record of exceptional customer service skills
  • Deep understanding of merchandising at CVS, or in other like external business models
  • Demonstrated track record of high performance
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Ability, and willingness, to travel regularly, up to 20% of time

  • Experience working for a Fortune 500 company in merchandising, loyalty or promo, or a similar function for an omnichannel retail or retail pharmacy company
  • Experience working as a strong merchant, managing a P&L strongly preferred
  • Experience using reporting and analysis tools evaluate performance and develop insights and recommendations from large retail data sets
  • Advanced degree preferred
