Job Description:

Fixed Term (Secondment) | Maternity Leave Cover | 12 Months | SCH Internal Only. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Nurse to join our dedicated Diabetes Nursing Team. This post is offering the chance to work within a supportive, multi-disciplinary environment delivering specialist care to children, young people, and their families.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide specialist diabetes care and education to children, young people, and families
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, demonstrating motivation, organisation, and excellent communication skills
  • Liaise with schools, GPs, and community nursing teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Deliver education to other healthcare professionals
  • Progress towards running nurse-led consultations following training and consolidation
  • Share responsibility for leading and managing the Diabetes Nursing Team, contributing to service development
  • Support young people in preparing for transition to adult services

Requirements:

  • RSCN/RN Child
  • ENB 998, or equivalent Teaching & Assessing Qualification
  • Experience in nursing care of children with Diabetes conditions
  • In possession of a full and clear driving licence
  • NMC / RNC/RN8
  • Educated to degree level, supplemented by postgraduate training/experience and continued professional development, to Master's level or equivalent
  • 998 or mentorship/supervisor training
  • Experience in paediatric nursing within a specialised care setting
  • Experience in clinical assessment, planning and implementation of care pathways for patients with complex needs
  • Experience of assessing and interpreting patient conditions, taking appropriate action
  • Experience of critically evaluating actions and results while planning for the short and long term
  • In depth knowledge of paediatric nursing and experience in managing care for children and young people within the specialty
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with the multidisciplinary team and wider health community
  • Ability to communicate sensitive and confidential information concerning patients / families such as safeguarding or life-limiting conditions adhering to GDPR standards
  • Current driving license and use of car
  • Commitment to promoting health equity and addressing health inequalities
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Demonstrates Trust Values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence)
  • Applicants must have current UK professional registration
