Job Description:

We turn CO2 into high value, carbon negative minerals. Forge Minerals makes decarbonised minerals, like magnesium carbonate. Our patent-pending process produces negative-carbon magnesium carbonates which can directly replace high-emission materials used in many industrial applications like flame retardants, pharmaceuticals, and supplements. In doing so, we’re replacing some of the most carbon-intensive minerals in the world — with no green premium. Forge is about to close its first major round, raising around £1m to underpin the optimisation and scale up of our system. We’re moving from lab trials to pilot and need an experienced engineer to lead this process. This is a strategic and hands-on role: we’re looking for someone senior enough to help us avoid costly mistakes and guide our transition from lab to pilot. You’ll report to the CEO in the early days and work directly with the founding team and scientific partners. We have strong investor backing and a clear commercial pathway. For the right person, this is an opportunity to shape the company’s core technology and long-term impact.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the optimisation and scale up of the system
  • Manage the design and integration of test rigs
  • Oversee delivery
  • Reduce technical risk
  • Ensure the system is safe, commercially scalable, and efficient
  • Shape a robust, commercial-ready system
  • Deliver a robust Technology Development Plan (TDP) — a clear, grounded roadmap covering stage-gates, partner roles, technical risks, budgets, and timelines from pilot through to commercial deployment

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Commute to this job’s location
  • Accept a background check
  • Working in an onsite setting
  • 5+ years of work experience with Chemical Process Engineering
  • Extensive technical experience — ideally 5-10+ years in process, mechanical, or chemical engineering, with proven design-build-test work on pressurised or thermal systems
  • Experience in pilot plant development, mineral/chemical processing, or early-stage technology environments is highly desirable

Nice to have:

Experience in pilot plant development, mineral/chemical processing, or early-stage technology environments
