Job Description

We are building a team of approximately 25 Critical Facilities Technicians to operate and maintain a brand-new, cutting-edge data center facility in Lancaster, TX, just south of Dallas. If you have a positive attitude, commitment to safety and reliability, and a passion for mission critical operations and maintenance, this is the career for you! The Lead Critical Facilities Technician will report directly to the Critical Facilities Manager and provide direct supervision to their shift CFTs. The Lead CFT drives continual improvements to the operational excellence of the data center by adhering to company standards, client requirements and industry best practices.

Job Responsibility

  • Supervise their night/day shift team of Critical Facilities Technicians, including reviewing and approving timecards, conducting one-on-ones, and assigning job skills and competency training
  • Ensure each team member demonstrates mastery of each phase of the Comprehensive Training Program and is fully prepared for shift work
  • Lead team with a commitment to safety, reliability, and continual operational improvement
  • Oversee the creation and execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)
  • Responsible for assisting in creating, revising, and executing operating procedures and PM inspections
  • Troubleshoot and document electrical and mechanical issues, resolve them quickly, and escalate appropriately
  • Operate and maintain critical and non-critical equipment and systems to ensure 100% uptime
  • Oversee power, cooling, and environmental conditions within data halls
  • Manage and schedule planned and unplanned work, including preventive maintenance, using a CMMS
  • Manage and respond to emergencies and critical issues for complete recovery
  • Assist with physical and logical installations and adhere to change control activities
  • Handle assigned tasks efficiently and effectively manage/escort external contractors
  • Follow all employer policies, procedures, and safety laws, and maintain accurate facility data
  • Assist with general facility operations, training, and construction/commissioning projects as needed
  • Able to fulfill Service Level Agreement requirement to man service desk and respond in the appropriate time to calls or service requests in order cure any problems

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior military or technical school training, preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience working in mission critical environments, preferred
  • Experience with building electrical, mechanical, BMS and fire systems, preferred
  • Electrical or mechanical license (HVAC), preferred
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to loud noise levels
  • Exposure to controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions
  • Exposure to mild chemicals, mechanical and electrical hazards
  • Required to work nights and/or weekends, or be on-call as a regular part of the job
  • Communicates with co-workers, management, vendors, etc. approximately 3-5 hours/day
  • Must be able to move and transport equipment weighing up to 45 lbs, operate tools, work at varying heights and ascend/descend ladders and stairs, position self in small spaces, and move between buildings
