Job Description:

Meta is seeking an experienced commercial attorney to join our Payments Partnerships Legal team. You will be a key legal partner for the Payments Partnerships team in APAC, providing strategic legal guidance and support on a wide variety of complex transactions with payment processors, Payment Networks, and other partners in the payments and financial services space.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide strategic legal advice and day-to-day support to internal stakeholders, with a focus on the Payments Partnerships team and high-impact product initiatives
  • Serve as legal subject matter specialist on payments and financial services partnerships and transactions
  • Draft, negotiate, and close complex payment and financial services agreements, including payments processing agreements, payment network agreements, and payment product integration agreements
  • Provide legal and strategic business advice to help develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to our relationships with key partners and the commercial aspects of our products and programs
  • Actively participate on cross-functional teams, collaborating with Product, Engineering, Privacy, Policy, and other Legal teams to address novel legal and regulatory issues in payments and financial services

Requirements:

  • Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable
  • 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (including at a law firm or in-house experience) in the area of technology and product development
  • Demonstrated business judgment and client counseling experience
  • Experience drafting and negotiating strategic, high-value, non-routine technology agreements
  • Experience managing time-sensitive projects through to completion while balancing evolving priorities and a broad range of stakeholders
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience of consistently working under your own initiative, seeking feedback and input where appropriate

Nice to have:

  • Demonstrated experience with payments and/or financial services agreements, including payment processing agreements, payment network agreements, and payment product integration agreements
  • Familiarity with regional payments and financial services regulatory requirements
  • Prior in-house experience supporting business development teams, product partnerships, advanced product teams, or 0→1 product launches
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and experience of creating structure and execution plans in a fast-paced environment
  • 10+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house, with experience leading payment and financial services transactions
