Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Compliance Officer. In this role, you will provide oversight and monitoring of business group risk based compliance programs, maintain compliance risk expertise, and consult on projects with moderate to high risk.
Job Responsibility:
Provide oversight and monitoring of business group risk based compliance programs
Maintain compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with moderate to high risk, over multiple business lines
Establish, implement and maintain risk standards and programs to drive compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory and Corporate Policy requirements
Oversee the Front Line's execution and challenges appropriately on compliance related decisions
Develop, oversee, and provide independent credible challenge to standards with subject matter expertise
Provide direction to the business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change
Report findings and make recommendations to management and appropriate committees
Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development
Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
Monitor the reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of issues, deficiencies or regulatory matters regarding compliance risk management
Oversee the Front Line's execution and challenges appropriately on compliance related decisions
Make decisions and resolve issues to meet business objectives
Interpret policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Work with complex business units, rules and regulations on moderate to high risk compliance matters
Interface with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topics
Train compliance teams on safe AI usage
Define acceptable GenAI policies
Run AI risk awareness programs
Focus on AI adoption within I&P Compliance and support stateside AI adoption
Conduct experiments on AI use cases to improve speed to market on AI solutions delivery
Liaise with technology partners , various stakeholders within Wells Fargo for seamless execution of AI use cases
Secure stakeholder buy-in for AI and process improvement initiatives
Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies and assess their relevance in day-to-day operations
Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency
Use data-driven insights to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for transformation / process improvements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing workflows and systems
Requirements:
5+ years of Compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Strong foundation in Compliance, Risk Management, and Governance, preferably within I&P / Financial Services
Proven experience defining and operationalizing policies, standards, and control frameworks, including emerging risk areas
Demonstrated ability to assess and challenge risk identification and control effectiveness
Practical understanding of AI and Generative AI concepts, use cases, limitations, and risks (e.g., data privacy, bias, model risk, explainability)
Experience defining or supporting acceptable AI / GenAI usage policies within a regulated environment
Ability to evaluate emerging AI technologies for business relevance and risk implications
Strong capability to translate complex AI concepts into clear, practical guidance for compliance teams
Track record of driving behavioral change and adoption through structured enablement
Hands‑on experience supporting or leading AI adoption initiatives, preferably within Compliance or Risk functions
Ability to experiment with AI use cases, conduct pilots, and assess value, feasibility, and risk
Proven ability to secure stakeholder buy‑in, align competing priorities, and drive consensus
Effective communication skills for engaging senior leadership and stateside partners
Ability to use data‑driven insights to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and transformation opportunities
Comfort working with metrics, dashboards, and thematic analysis to support decision‑making
