On behalf of an innovative company providing large-scale energy storage systems, we are looking for a: Civil & Structural Lead Engineer - Energy Storage. The ideal candidate has an excellent mathematical and analytical background, he/she should display an investigative nature and must be accurate, commercially aware, and have great communication skills with a keen interest in ensuring the safety and physical integrity of buildings and other structures.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing civil engineering technical input into projects at various stages (from feasibility to preliminary and detailed design, construction and operational stages)
  • Undertake feasibility and concept level civil designs for renewable projects including cost estimation and draft preparation
  • Detail design of concrete foundation and structure, steel structure and dome through CAD and FEA analysis software
  • Define and undertake technical reviews of civil engineering design documentation (architectural/structural drawing and calculation report for concrete and single line/construction drawing and calculation report for steel frame), including the review of drawings and studies prepared by third parties
  • Prepare material requisition and material take off for request for quotation, supporting purchasing department in offers technical alignment
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, specifications and employer’s requirements to a high-quality standard including application of relevant standards, code and local regulations
  • Conducting site visits and inspections for geological/geotechnical survey, construction follow up and static acceptance test

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience as a structural engineer preferably in industrial/power/chemical plant
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methods, standard/code, materials and legal regulations (EU and US)
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, etc.) for 2D/3D modeling and drafting
  • Proficiency in structural calculation including FEA analysis (SAP2000)
  • Good knowledge of European standard (EN1090 /Eurocode/etc) is a must
  • Good knowledge of American standard (IBC/AISC/ASCE) would be a plus
  • Expertise in local permitting would be advantageous
  • Ability to liaise with professionals from other disciplines
  • Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Problem-solving skills to quickly address issues that arise on-site and keep projects on track
  • Language: Fluency in professional English
  • Willingness to travel in Italy and abroad (15% per year)

Nice to have

  • A good knowledge of the geotechnical fundamentals aimed to determine all necessary parameters for structural design is a preferred requirement
  • A good knowledge of hydraulic engineering aimed to size rainwater networks is an additional requirement
  • Good knowledge of American standard (IBC/AISC/ASCE) would be a plus
  • Expertise in local permitting would be advantageous
