The Lead Catastrophe Modelling Analyst for the Data & Analytics team will be responsible for delivering exceptional modelling and building analytical capabilities that help drive and shape catastrophe exposed books of business. The Lead Catastrophe Modeller role offers a unique opportunity to work across the business with senior brokers, wholesalers and retailers, as well as external carrier clients, to enhance the Decus Property offering.
Job Responsibility:
Collaborate with the Data & Analytics Director, senior analysts, brokers and clients to support the delivery and create new workflows for catastrophe modelling analysis
Present modelling output and pricing insights to all key stakeholders
Contribute to continued development of post event loss analysis
Working closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs to ensure their expectations are met
Plan and lead meetings with business and technical staff, documenting outputs, proactively seeking subsequent agreement and sign-off
Drive and support, where appropriate, the pricing approach to new and renewal business
Share duties with the wider data & analytics team to ensure data are delivered accurately and on time to the business
Ensuring data are delivered accurately, efficiently, and according to agreed-upon timelines
Serving as a point of contact for exposure management, catastrophe modelling and pricing related activities. You'll clearly communicate progress, roadblocks, and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Identify and implement opportunities for data quality improvements and efficiency gains
Requirements:
Extensive experience in catastrophe modelling at an insurer, broker or coverholder
Prior London Insurance market experience
Familiar with one of RMS or Verisk
Strong Proficiency in SQL, data visualisation tools and Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to communicate highly technical concepts to a non-technical audience
Nice to have:
Advanced knowledge of geospatial tools
Property pricing experience
Experience working with cloud-based modelling platforms
Coding skills in Python advantageous but not essential
Degree educated in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Business, or related fields
