Job Description

Build the data foundation that powers Spendesk. As Tech Lead of the Core Data squad, you will lead the technical direction and delivery of the team responsible for making Spendesk’s data reliable, well-governed, high-quality, and easily accessible to all product squads and business teams. You will work in a cross-functional squad composed of 1 Data Engineer, 2 Analytics Engineers, 1 Software Engineer, and 1 Data Product Manager.

Job Responsibility

  • Define and drive technical direction of Core Data squad
  • Lead design discussions for pipelines, models, services, tracking systems
  • Write/review code, dbt models, infrastructure changes
  • Rebuild core data model
  • Drive standards around data modeling, naming conventions, ownership
  • Co-own squad roadmap with Data Product Manager
  • Facilitate planning, refinements, retrospectives
  • Mentor engineers
  • Support hiring and onboarding
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams

Requirements

  • Significant experience in software engineering, data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform engineering
  • Strong track record of delivering complex technical projects in production
  • Experience as Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Engineering Team Lead
  • Experience working closely with Product Managers or Data Product Managers
  • Strong technical judgment and hands-on experience in modern data platforms, data modeling, backend or platform engineering, dbt, Snowflake, SQL, CI/CD, tracking systems, AI-enabled tooling
  • Strong communicator, fluent in written and spoken English

Experience in B2B SaaS, fintech, or regulated environments
