Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of a first-class laundry service for all football teams based at the Academy of Light. This includes ensuring reliable cover across all assigned shifts and rota requirements to support continuous and uninterrupted service delivery. You will ensure all equipment is kept clean, well maintained, and in good working order, while taking responsibility for the effective upkeep, servicing, and functionality of all laundry machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Duties will include washing, drying, ironing, and storing kits efficiently so that all items are prepared and available as required, while ensuring all kit is stored and presented to a high standard. The role requires strict adherence to all washing guidelines and laundering requirements specified for each item of kit, alongside operating machinery in accordance with manufacturer guidance and company policy. You will also be responsible for managing stock levels of all equipment and supplies required to operate machinery, monitoring cleaning materials, and reporting any kit damages or shortages. In addition, you will oversee stock control of all kit and equipment, ensuring accuracy and organisation at all times. Maintaining the cleanliness and overall presentation of both the kit and the kit room is a key part of the role. A strong commitment to health and safety is essential, with responsibility for adhering to and promoting strict standards to maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • Experience working within a professional sports environment or football club
  • knowledge of laundry processes, equipment maintenance, and relevant safety standards
  • high level of attention to detail and pride in presentation
  • ability to work flexibly in line with training schedules, travel, and matchday requirements
  • understanding of safeguarding policies within a sporting environment
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • valid driving licence preferred
  • Enhanced DBS from Sunderland AFC required
