Requirements

Grade 12 or GED preferred
Ability to read, write and speak English and to be understood effectively
Ability to work individually and as part of a team environment
On the job training
Knowledge of WHMIS, policies and procedures
Class G driver’s license for some job routines
Previous work in a hospital is an asset but not essential
Demonstrated ability in problem solving and decision making
Work independently, reliable, punctual, team player and culturally sensitive
Considerable walking, lifting, standing, pushing, pulling and bending

Job Responsibility

Provides laundry services according to hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Understand the Infection Control Policies and Procedures
Understand the Safety Policy and Procedure
Ensures that all hospital policies and procedures are followed at all times including all infection control standards that may apply
Ensure the proper use of PPE at all times when sorting soiled linen
Ensure proper handwashing at all times
Responsible for loading and unloading of washers and dryers
Folding and distribution of clean linen and Extended Care resident personal clothing
Responsible for daily cleaning of equipment, lint filter on dryers and through cleaning of entire laundry department
Ensures replenishment of all linen carts on a scheduled and routine basis to all patient care areas
