Job Description

This role serves as the primary electrical quality and communication lead between Plant teams, ensuring consistent alignment through the creation and maintenance of the Plan for Every Connector to drive effective electrical assembly and issue resolution. The individual coaches production and quality teams on electrical assembly excellence, leveraging standardized tools and processes to enable high-quality vehicle builds and strong performance in key quality metrics such as EFTQ, DRR, and GCA. This position supports both steady-state operations and launch activities, acting as the voice of the electrical organization on the plant floor while leading troubleshooting, change management, and continuous improvement efforts. The role partners closely with Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Software Integration, and Supplier teams to contain, root cause, and permanently resolve complex electrical issues that directly impact the customer experience. Additionally, this individual will learn and apply GM’s new Electrical Architecture and Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) technologies as part of ongoing vehicle and manufacturing system evolution.

Job Responsibility

  • Analyze electrical quality data to identify recurring issues, support defect prioritization, and partner with manufacturing and quality teams to drive timely resolution
  • Review and support implementation of electrical changes on the manufacturing floor, documenting impacts and escalating risks to prevent quality or reliability concerns
  • Support execution of electrical assembly processes by contributing to training readiness, work standard adherence, launch support, and software validation activities
  • Enter, validate, and maintain accurate electrical defect and repair information in plant quality systems to ensure proper issue tracking and corrective action
  • Verify adherence to defined electrical manufacturing requirements and process control plans, identifying gaps and supporting corrective actions when standards are not met
  • Create and deliver hands-on technical training for production support roles, focusing on diagnostics, proper handling and routing, and standardized electrical repair practices
  • Travel up to 25% to support supplier visits and collaborate with other manufacturing locations to assist with issue containment, validation, and best-practice sharing

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience supporting automotive electrical systems in a manufacturing, quality, or launch environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze electrical quality data, identify trends, and support root cause and corrective action activities
  • Working knowledge of automotive electrical assembly, connector systems, harness routing, and standardized repair processes
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic and manufacturing support tools (e.g., continuity testers, trim testers, vehicle diagnostic software, cameras, or equivalent systems)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable information for non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work on the plant floor, including standing, walking, bending, and working around production equipment for extended periods

Nice to have

  • Experience with automotive electrical launch support and new product introduction in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with electrical quality metrics such as first-time quality, defect tracking, and warranty-related indicators
  • Knowledge of GM Manufacturing System (GMS) and experience supporting BIQ4 deliverables
  • Previous involvement in process improvement, error-proofing, or manufacturing change management initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience developing or delivering technical training materials
  • Proven ability to work effectively across manufacturing, product engineering, supplier, and quality organizations
