Late Stage Collector

• Manage a portfolio of late-stage delinquent accounts, prioritizing accounts nearing charge-off
• Contact customers via phone, email, or written correspondence to negotiate payments, settlements, or payment plans
• Conduct detailed account analysis to determine the best course of action to resolve outstanding balances
• Explain account statuses, terms, and repayment options while ensuring clear and professional communication
• Coordinate with the internal legal or recovery team to escalate delinquent accounts when necessary
• Accurately document customer interactions, payment arrangements, and resolutions in the system
• Adhere to company collection policies, industry regulations (e.g., FDCPA), and compliance standards
• Provide recommendations on recovery strategies to maximize repayment success
• Work collaboratively with other departments to improve account resolution processes

• Proven experience in collections, specifically working with late-stage or high-risk accounts
• Understanding of collections laws and compliance regulations, such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to maintain a positive and empathetic tone
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in collections or CRM software
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• additional education or certifications in finance or collections is a plus
