Optegra has an exciting new opportunity for an Laser Technician to join our amazing eye hospital in Central London. Laser experience in a Ophthalmology theatre setting is desired for this role. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and developing business and benefit from our fantastic fully funded training programs. As part of a multi-disciplinary team with an emphasis on quality patient care, ensure a comprehensive level of care provision to all ophthalmic patients, their relatives or carers, across clinical and some administrative disciplines. Work alongside other clinical team members and optometrists for outpatient consultations and pre assessment of patients. Accountable for the smooth operations of laser surgery on site.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain documentation of laser machines, servicing included
Buddy with new staff during their induction period
Work with external and internal key stakeholders on stock taking and ordering of lens
Plan and coordinate patient files for laser surgery
Hold accountability for delivery of high quality patient care
Work closely with clinical and patient services staff to ensure smooth running of operating lists
Complete diagnostic testing on patients in clinic
Actively support and assist patients on surgery days
Handle patient enquiries effectively
Provide basic advice on health promotion
Provide pre and post-operative care
Be aware and sensitive to patients’ and relatives’ needs
Organise notes and hospital lists using ERM system
Prepare consulting/examination/treatment rooms
Offer non-clinical advice regarding appointments and tests
Manage diagnostic equipment daily
Manage patient data
Clean, prepare and assemble surgical equipment
Open up and close down consulting and diagnostic rooms
Ensure awareness of equipment uses and safety
Ensure correct storage of equipment
Support whole patient pathway including operating theatre, outpatient and ward
Assist in control of cross infection
Follow procedures for documenting and reporting accidents
Assist with suppliers to ensure stock levels
Requirements:
Laser experience in a Ophthalmology theatre setting is desired for this role
