Lapidary Manager

• Oversee budgets and the daily operational workflow of the Lapidary laboratory
• Undertake equipment maintenance and oversee equipment upgrades
• Be responsible for safe operation of the Lapidary laboratory
• Oversee and participate in sample preparation to a professional and high-quality standard
• Build and manage effective relationships with customers and researchers to understand and consistently meet their requirements.

• Experience cutting, lapping, and polishing rocks or similar skills
• Experience managing the day-to-day operations of a laboratory or workshop and technical workflows
• Basic knowledge of rock and mineral properties (e.g., hardness, cleavage and fracture)
• Demonstrated ability to use computers, including the use of spreadsheet and word processing software packages
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment along with well-developed organisational and written skills
• Awareness in the management of WH&S issues involved in an analytical laboratory environment
• To be eligible for this position, you are required to hold Australian or New Zealand Citizenship, permanent residency or a valid visa that enables you to fulfil the requirements of this role.
