The Landscape Gardener is a hands-on role responsible for the implementation and maintenance of landscape designs and garden care programs. The successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge of horticulture, practical landscaping skills, and a passion for working outdoors. This position involves performing a wide variety of tasks to ensure our clients’ gardens and landscapes are maintained to the highest standard of quality and presentation.
Job Responsibility:
Performing routine garden maintenance tasks including mowing, edging, trimming, and pruning of lawns, hedges, shrubs, and trees
Implementing weed and pest control programs using both chemical and organic methods, in compliance with safety standards
Applying fertilisers, soil conditioners, and mulches to promote healthy plant growth
Identifying and treating plant diseases and nutritional deficiencies
Planting, cultivating, and maintaining a variety of plants, including trees, shrubs, flowers, and groundcovers
Monitoring the health and condition of all plants and turf areas
Assisting with the installation of new garden beds, turf, and planting schemes
Performing minor hardscaping tasks such as laying pavers, constructing small retaining walls, and installing garden edging
Assisting with the installation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems
Operating a range of landscaping machinery and equipment safely and effectively
Operating and maintaining a variety of hand tools, power tools, and light machinery (e.g., mowers, blowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers)
Ensuring all tools and equipment are cleaned, stored correctly, and reported for repair or replacement as needed
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work site at all times
Managing green waste and other materials responsibly
Liaising with clients in a professional and courteous manner to understand their needs and provide updates on work progress
Reporting any client concerns or potential issues to the team leader or manager promptly
Representing Australis Landscaping Pty Ltd in a positive and professional manner
Adhering to all company Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures
Identifying potential hazards and implementing risk control measures on site
Wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
Participating in safety meetings and training as required
Requirements:
Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks and Gardens, or Landscape Construction or equivalent relevant work experience
Minimum one year of work experience on relevant position
