Requirements

Valid driver’s license
Trained on Trimble surveying equipment
Experience with executing Topographic Surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys and staking
Knowledge of INDOT Standards/Code lists and survey requirements
Proficient with GPS and Robotic Total Station
Familiar with Civil 3D preferred or willingness/ability to be trained
Ability to read and comprehend engineer drawings and project layout
Strong communication, computer, and math skills
Willing to work in varying weather conditions

Job Responsibility

Compile survey field information for topographic and boundary surveys
Uphold company standards for data collection, field notes, and survey records
Supervise additional survey team staff members, as required
Submit accurate timesheets, and expense logs
Maintain JSE survey equipment
Adhere to QA/QC and safety procedures
Follow instructions/work orders from project managers
Review and follow project scopes
Assist with organization of electronic and field records

Requirements

Have or are in pursuit of an associates degree or bachelor’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, or related field
Minimum of 3 years of field surveying experience with at least 1 year in a crew chief role
Proficiency with GPS, robotic total stations, and related survey instruments
Experience in AutoCAD and or MicroStation, Trimble Business Center
Working knowledge of Land Surveying data collection procedures
Strong understanding of survey fundamentals and principles, field procedures, and construction staking
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and legal descriptions
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Job Responsibility

Being the lead on a one-person survey crew and supervise multi-person survey crews on various types of surveys, including boundary, topographic, construction staking, and as-built surveys
Operate and maintain survey equipment such as GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, and levels
Interpret project plans, specifications, and control requirements to establish accurate survey data
Collect and record accurate field notes, sketches, and digital data for office processing
Ensure crew safety by following company and industry safety standards
Train and mentor crew members in field procedures and equipment use
Communicate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements and resolve field issues
Manage daily schedules, crew logistics, and field resources
Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of survey work
Maintain survey vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition

Job Responsibility

Acts as chief of parties for a field crew(s) engaged in construction, topographic, right-of-way, and survey projects

Consult with land surveyors, engineers, architects, contractors, clients, and consultants prior to and during project execution
Conduct record research to determine boundary, construction, and topographic survey needs
