Job Description

This is a great opportunity for an experienced machine operator with laminating or sheeting experience and packing machinery expertise to join our client’s award-winning packaging organisation. You’ll have the chance to develop your technical expertise, working with state-of-the-art machinery that will strengthen and expand your skillset. In return, you’ll be supported in a workplace that encourages progression, with the opportunity to increase your earnings once you’re fully signed off as an Operator.

Job Responsibility

  • Operate specialist machinery to lacquer, laminate and process aluminium foil products to defined quality standards
  • Set up and operate laminator machinery by preparing materials such as foil, paper and film, and applying lacquers, adhesives or waxes through tanks, pumps and trays
  • Monitor the process closely, loading new materials as required, identifying defective materials and carrying out quality control checks
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Operate the sheeting machine
  • Produce and submit initial samples for Quality Control and Team Leader approval
  • Work on other machines when required
  • Complete the necessary documentation for the job and BS 5750

Requirements

  • Experience operating glue laminating and/or wax laminating machines
  • Experience operating sheeting or packing machinery
  • Experience setting up machinery, including trays, pumps, pressure rolls and doctor blades
  • Experience using equipment such as overhead hoists, hand trucks, electric trucks, scales and viscosity cups
  • Knowledge of viscosity controls and their effect on colour shade control
  • An understanding of working tolerances and how glues, waxes and lacquers affect materials such as foil, tissue and film
