Job Description:

Morson Vital, part of Morson Group, are recruiting for an experienced and professional Labour Manager to join their busy and fast-paced Derby branch. Morson Vital is the largest supplier of skilled Rail staff to the UK Rail industry, completing enhancement, renewal and maintenance projects for the rail, light rail and construction sectors. Reports to: Business Operations Manager. Base: Derby. The Role: As a dedicated Labour Manager, you will be responsible for attracting and recruiting suitably skilled rail contractors within specified timescales. You will be responsible for the planning, administration and coordination of our frontline workforce. Our ideal candidate will be an extremely organised individual, with the ability to communicate confidently. You will enjoy a fast-paced working environment and be a self-starter and keen to learn all aspects of the role. You will be working with an established and successful team, be given full training and the opportunity to progress. Primary Responsibility: To proactively assist the company in achieving its aims and objectives by ensuring we provide a competent and compliant work force to the rail infrastructure as well as developing and maintaining effective customer/client relationships.

Job Responsibility:

  • Receive and process requirements from clients/customers
  • Prepare, review and monitor job vacancies
  • Undertake on-site duties and when required as a representative of management
  • Handle and respond to incoming applications and enquiries via phone and email
  • Vet applications for suitability and competence
  • Assess quality and calibre of frontline workforce to ensure high standards are routinely met
  • Upload applications and personnel details to resourcing software – Peoplesoft
  • Upload rosters and allocate resource
  • Drive internal and contractual KPI compliance and performance
  • Issue PPE and stock management
  • Carry out any other duties as and when requested by the company from time to time
  • Assist with the management of operative training and competencies
  • Attend site and/or client meetings as and when required

Requirements:

  • Be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of experience in a similar role within rail/construction related industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, literacy and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of producing work for a team of people juggling competing priorities
  • Flexible/proactive – a ‘can do’ attitude who shows initiative to support others
