We are currently seeking an Employment Lawyer with 3-6+ years of in-house experience, focused on drafting and negotiating comprehensive employment agreements. Job Responsibility:
Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, employee handbooks, policies, and protocols to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Collaborate closely with business clients to provide tailored legal advice and practical solutions for corporate and employment challenges
Develop and implement strategies for effective dispute resolution and risk management related to employment matters
Conduct thorough investigations into employment-related issues, ensuring fair and timely resolution
Advise on reductions in force, ensuring compliance and minimizing legal risks
Maintain and strengthen collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, including HR, management, and other business units
Stay informed of legislative and regulatory changes to proactively address potential impacts on the organization
Requirements:
3-6+ years of experience as an employment lawyer in-house with mid to large corporations, with extensive experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating employment agreements, policies, and handbooks
Proven ability to counsel clients on complex employment and labor law issues, conduct thorough investigations, and handle reductions in force while ensuring compliance and minimizing legal risks
Active license to practice law in Ontario with exceptional analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills, alongside strong project management capabilities and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Experience with collective bargaining and union negotiations, coupled with a current awareness of provincial and federal employment legislation, industry trends, and best practices
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a strong client-service orientation, demonstrated commercial acumen, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment
Active Ontario bar license
