Job Description

Our client is seeking a Labour & Employment Associate to join their Vancouver office. This is a strong opportunity for a junior to mid-level lawyer looking for hands-on mentorship, early client exposure, and a balanced mix of advisory and litigation work. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of labour and employment experience, though litigators looking to transition into employment law may also be considered.

Job Responsibility

  • Drafting demand letters, pleadings, applications, and settlement documents
  • Supporting partners on litigation files
  • Managing employment files from intake through resolution
  • Conducting client consultations and providing practical employment law advice
  • Representing clients in mediations, discoveries, applications, hearings, and tribunal matters
  • Assisting with matters before the Human Rights Tribunal, Employment Standards, and other workplace-related forums

Requirements

  • 2+ years of labour and employment experience
  • Called to the BC Bar, or eligible and willing to be called in BC
  • Comfortable with advisory work, litigation, and client-facing responsibilities
  • Strong drafting, organization, and communication skills
  • Interest in both employer-side and plaintiff-side employment law
  • Comfortable working primarily in-office
  • Comfortable with a 1200 billable hour target
  • Mandarin language skills are an asset
