Job Description:

The primary role of this position is support of supervision in managing and directing shift operations. Individuals must demonstrate effective and positive leadership skills. This position assists in administering company plans, policies, and positive leadership skills. Under the direction of the supervisor, this position is responsible for the operation of the receiving, processing, and packaging areas. This position is responsible for optimizing productivity and maintaining target quality and sanitation levels. Must have knowledge of plant safety, personal hygiene, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and assist in administering these policies. Must also be familiar with the general make-up of potatoes, processing techniques, and lab procedures.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs
  • Rotates to all General Labor work stations to complete assigned tasks
  • Quickly assesses and removes foreign materials and nonstandard product from moving receiving and processing equipment as assigned using both hands
  • Hand sizes raw product on the trim line according to product specifications and Lamb Weston standards
  • Efficiently trims defects (cuts, rot, green, sugar ends, disease, etc...) from raw product to Lamb-Weston standards
  • Distributes product on processing equipment to maintain even product flow
  • Inspects raw product to ensure that it has been peeled, cut, cleaned and blanched, ready for final inspection or packaging
  • Performs hand-packing as assigned
  • Inspects bags in packaging and removes defective bags to Lamb-Weston's standards
  • Reports any irregular cuts or malfunction of food processing equipment as quickly as possible to the lead or team leaders
  • Rework cased product into totes
  • Resort and/or recycle used cases as assigned
  • Performs cleanup duties as assigned
  • Performs weekend clean-up as assigned
  • Monitors equipment for plug-ups
  • Tote make-up and breakdown
  • Hand palletize cased product

Requirements:

  • No prior experience or training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English
  • Ability to write accurate information on simple forms in English
  • Ability to effectively present or listen to information in one-on-one and small group situations with all other employees of the organization in English
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must be able to stand
  • use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to bend, reach and grasp
  • Must be able to walk, sit, and climb or balance occasionally

  • Must work in close proximity to moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Must be able to work exposed to temperature changes, various levels of illumination, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat
  • Must occasionally work in high places and be exposed to extreme cold
