Join our team as a Laborer and be the backbone of our operations, providing essential support to all shop and yard personnel whenever needed! Your role is dynamic and versatile, involving a wide range of tasks to keep our operations running smoothly. Job Responsibility:

  • Assist all shop and yard personnel whenever needed
  • Responsible for drilling holes in fabricated steel
  • Assist in loading material on trucks
  • Assist the Parts Supervisor with laying out and cutting material
  • Grind material for fit-up or after welding
  • Clean material for painting
  • Responsible for cleaning the shop
  • Assist fitters in positioning material for tacking
  • Operate the following equipment
  • punches, magnetic drills, grinders, and sandblasting equipment
  • Scrape structural steel for paint preparation
  • Adhere to all company safety and QA/QC policies and OSHA regulations
  • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of six months’ experience or willing to train on the job
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds frequently
  • Must be able to climb to unload trucks
  • Must be able to work in a dusty and noisy work environment
  • May be exposed to temperature fluctuations
  • Capacity to proactively initiate, effectively lead, and consistently uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards

  • Production Leadership: Plan, direct, and coordinate daily fabrication and production activities to meet output targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules. Own the production plan and communicate priorities clearly across shifts and teams.
  • Team Management: Lead, develop, and mentor a team of production supervisors, fabrication technicians, CNC machinists, welders, and manufacturing technicians. Manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, time and attendance, and disciplinary actions.
  • Fabrication Oversight: Oversee all fabrication processes including CNC machining (VTL, mill, lathe), welding (MIG/TIG), sheet metal forming, cutting, grinding, fitting, and mechanical assembly operations.
  • Safety & Compliance: Champion a culture of safety on the production floor. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company PPE requirements, and all applicable health and safety standards. Partner with the Director of Safety to drive incident prevention and safety training.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality Manager to ensure all fabricated components and assemblies meet engineering specifications, tolerance requirements, and quality standards. Implement inspection checkpoints and corrective action processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Apply lean manufacturing principles and operational excellence methodologies to identify waste, reduce cycle times, improve yields, and increase throughput. Lead Kaizen events and process improvement initiatives.
  • Capacity & Resource Planning: Manage labor allocation, equipment utilization, and material flow to optimize production capacity. Coordinate with supply chain and procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Facilities teams to support new product introductions (NPI), design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews, and production ramp-up activities.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Track and report on key production metrics including output volume, on-time delivery, scrap/rework rates, labor efficiency, and safety incidents. Use data to drive decisions and present regular updates to leadership.
  • Budget Management: Manage the fabrication department budget, including labor costs, tooling, consumables, and capital equipment needs. Identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
