Job Description

Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual as a Laboratory Technician Intern for our Milling division based in Hanover, ON. This position term is from May 2026 – August 2026. As a Laboratory Technician Intern, you will gain valuable industry experience along with personal and professional skills to begin building your career.

Job Responsibility

  • Conduct wheat and flour testing and analysis, ensuring raw material and finished goods quality and food safety are within the predetermined product specifications
  • Complete and issue customers’ documents such as Certificate of Analysis, Product Specifications and other inquiries
  • Assist in the maintenance of Quality program and manual which includes but not limited to periodic review and inspections, updating documents, filing and organizing, corrective and preventive action reporting
  • Maintain documents and records in accordance with P&H policies and procedures
  • Report and communicate with Department Supervisors/Managers on matters regarding the results of quality testing and analysis
  • Participate in Food Safety programs, including maintenance of the Supplier Approval program
  • Participate and assist with traceability, mock recalls exercise, audits, customer complaints and inquiries
  • Support and participate in third party, customer and regulatory audits

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Food Science, chemistry, or related field program
  • Good knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory instruments as well as physical and chemical testing and analysis
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines
