Job Description

As a Laboratory Systems Developer, you will take technical ownership of an in house sample traceability and laboratory workflow system that is used daily across our engineering labs. Approximately 80% of the role focuses on software and system ownership, including maintenance, improvement, and reliable day to day operation of the system and its data flows. The remaining 20% involves hands on support within the electromechanical R&D lab, ensuring that software tools align seamlessly with real world engineering and testing activities.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintain and support a web based sample traceability and laboratory workflow system
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues across frontend, backend, and database layers
  • Implement small improvements, extensions, and configuration changes based on user needs
  • Support engineers and technicians in using the system correctly and efficiently
  • Monitor system behavior, logs, and data consistency
  • Document system functionality, technical procedures, and known issues
  • Take technical ownership of the system as part of the R&D team
  • Support electromechanical lab setups and test activities when required
  • Assist with test execution, measurement setups, and result documentation
  • Perform basic CAD work or technical drawings to support lab setups or fixtures
  • Act as a bridge between software tools and physical lab workflows

Requirements

  • Professional Bachelor in IT, Applied Computer Science, Electronics, Mechatronics (or equivalent due to experience)
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in a technical or IT oriented role
  • Hands on experience with software development or technical scripting
  • Proven experience maintaining and working with existing codebases
  • Solid experience with at least two of the following: Python
  • TypeScript / JavaScript
  • SQL (PostgreSQL or similar)
  • Ability to read, debug, and maintain existing codebases
  • Comfortable working with structured and traceable data
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to work independently
  • English required
  • Work primarily onsite

Nice to have

  • Experience with React or another modern frontend framework (Angular, Vue, …)
  • Familiarity with Docker or similar container technologies
  • Exposure to cloud-based storage, system integrations, or APIs
  • Experience working in an engineering, industrial, or laboratory environment
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion)
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming or control systems
